Today is the French mother's day and the Dutch father's day: a funny coincidence for us at home!

We woke up late, lazed around the pool, played with Chloé, had champagne in the boucarou (my parents' new African patio by the pool) followed by a BBQ lunch with fresh fish and now it's time for a siesta. Could do this every day !

Another beautiful day in the South of France: more than 35 degrees in the shade, no programme whatsoever, nice lunch at the Golf course of Valcros (ate the traditional entrecote, frites, salade), and Chloé all to myself. Serge, Mum and Dad went to play golf.I just can't believe I am flying back tonight for 4 days of work. I mean look at that:

Quite depressing isn't it ? And statistically it will be cooler than expected in the Netherlands and much warmer in the South of France, since the temperatures are always in the shade. Today was 36 degrees in the sun against a forecasted 25. Oh well, it will give me a couple of days to recover from my sun burns and luckily I am back on Friday night for a week. Carine will be around in Cavalaire with Erin and Stéphane so hopefully will meet up. We'll also go to Port Grimaud to meet Mimi's baby, Hugo and bring him a little presie. Nice pictures to look forward to on the blog.

Today was or still is a true rest day, we did absolutely nothing at all. A bit of reading, a quick swim, a nice lunch (as always) and that's about it. Tomorrow we have another round of golf on the program which is in fact pretty damn tiring in this weather......but you won't hear me complain. Chloé is as sweet as ever however, she does miss her mummy. In terms of working days; 1 down 2 to go!!!!

I have just downloaded Skype. At last ! Everybody should have already done it really !Skype is free internet telephony for calling other people all around the world on their computers or phones. And yes, it costs nothing. It's just a bit of software that allows you to call using your broadband internet connection. Fab'
Skype calls require a PC microphone and speakers, or a PC headset. I still need to get that so I don't think I can Skype just yet but am working on it... :-)
Anyhow, please let me know if you also have Skype so I can add you to my contacts. Nicolas: I have found you so your in my list already. Jen, I couldn't find you and you are in the US so I guess we should both get it sorted quickly !!

And there I was thinking I would be in La Londe in the South of France by 23 pm tonight...
I left home at 5pm and got to Schiphol airport at 5:45pm to discover my long-awaited flight to Nice had a 4 hour delay....Argh, triple argh. And of course they tell you not to go home in case the flight schedule changes. Well, in the meantime it is still announced to leave at 23:10pm instead of 19:10pm and I am getting seriously bored here ! I did a bit of shopping: bought 2 CDs (supper club CDs # 7 and 8 - lounge music) and 2 books: "eleven minutes" by Paulo Coelho (I read good reviews about it) and "The definitive book of body language", which seems quite entertaining. I resisted buying any new handbag or Burberry clothes, had a free dinner (got a voucher from the airline) in the Mediterranean restaurant to make me feel somehow closer to my final destination, watched a bit of CNN, which frankly gets very repetitive once you've seen the same headlines 3 times within half an hour, and there I am now, sitting in the communication center using their internet facilities for 9 euros the hour. The question remains: what's next ? I have still 2.5 hours to kill (that's if they don't cancel the flight, which would be the fairly unbearable after such a wait), then a 1.5 hour flight and a 1.5 hour drive to get to the house. Thinking about it: it would have been quicker to drive from Hilversum to La Londe ! With a bit of luck I will be there between 2 and 3am. Oh well, at least then I am on holiday.

As always, when the South of France gets the very occasional showers, the north of Europe enjoys fab weather. Today is all cloudy and grey in the Var and the Netherlands have a great summer day. Oh well, it's not very often you get to capture La Londe in the rain:
and it gave me a good excuse to go shopping all day with Mum: new clothes, new shoes, new bathing suit. Shoppingtastic !
