Hello everybody,
I am going to be 5 months in a week and no one has sent you any news since the end November?3 months ago! Well, I admit it probably doesn?t help that we went to South Africa on a trip in the meantime, that it was Christmas afterwards and that Maman has gone back to work since January and is running around non stop but all the same, we have some catching up to do !
South Africa was great and even though it was quite long trip, I behaved myself in the plane and made sure I caught some sleep whilst everybody else was also trying too ! It was my first time abroad but it didn?t make that much of a difference for me. Mum just dressed me with nice little dresses and took me out for dinner quite a bit but for the rest it was pretty much the same. It just gave me the opportunity to spend some quality time with Papa and with my grand parents and with Allard and Stephanie too.
By Christmas I was more than 5 kilos and 62 centimeters. They keep saying I am long and thin, which I guess is not such a bad thing considering that?s what most women dream of ! Mind you, since I get the bottle I seem to be putting on a bit more weight so let?s wait before I shout victory. I was 5,8 kilos for 65 centimeters the last time they got hold of me, which was on my 4 month birthday. I wear clothes for 6 month old babies since then !
Believe it or not, I have a cast around my right leg since January 4 th : that?s already 6 weeks with the thing weighing my leg down?. I need it because my right foot wasn?t straight and they wanted to make sure it was properly corrected before I got to walking. I don?t even understand what they mean with that concept of ?walking? but the big guys seem to think it is quite important. The cast starts at the top of my thigh and goes all the way to my foot. They can?t do it otherwise or they say I will always manage to wriggle of it. Anyway, that?s 6 weeks with no bath and with a big looking leg, which doesn?t quite agree with Mum?s sense of fashion ! Hopefully they will take it out for good next week on Friday. It doesn?t bother me really but it will be nice to be able to have a good kick with both legs and a nice warm bath everyday again. Mind you Papa et Maman are probably in for a shock as I probably don?t fit in the baby bath anymore !
I started the creche/day care early January. It?s quite good really. Mind you, I hear I am a very easy going baby and that it would take a lot before anything bothers me: didn?t have any reaction to the injections for the vaccination, didn?t mind going from breast to bottle feeds, don?t seem to notice I have a cast on my leg, keep smiling around to everyone even if I am not on top form, don?t say a word if I need a change, hardly ever cry except if they are really too long with bringing me my food (you know, I just need to eat sometimes after all !) etc. Anyway, back to the day care, I go there on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I am in a group of 10 kids from 3 months to 2 years old. There is only one other baby there and we are getting a lot of attention and they generally take very good care of us. That?s especially true now as Papa et Maman had a bit of a discussion with them when I came back with a scratch on my forehead on my first day at the day care?another kid wanted to give me a cuddle and made a wrong movement and got me on the head. Papa et Maman weren?t too happy about it !
On Wednesday I get totally spoilt at Opa and Oma?s, you know, Papa?s Mum and Dad. They love me to bits and seem to really enjoy my company on Wednesday. I actually think they wouldn?t mind having me some more at the moment but I hear I have to try and stick to a routine.
Every Friday I have full day with Maman and we speak loads of French, listen to French music and sing French ?comptines? (songs for kids). I am supposed to be brought up to speake at least 2 languages so you know?.We also make up for lost times as we don?t get to see each other too much from Monday to Thursday what with her working a good hour away from home and me going to bed at around 7:30pm. We always catch a half hour in the morning for my first feed and a small hour in the evening for a quick wash and a bottle but it doesn?t compare to a full day together on Friday !
Papa is really great and plays with me a lot. He keeps imitating me and making funny faces and noises, which I find really amusing. He always wakes me up around 11 pm to feed me, which I find a bit harsh sometimes because let?s face it, who likes to be woken up right in the middle of their sleep. But anyway, that?s my time with him as Maman is always asleep by then, ready to wake up at 6:30 am .
Well I think that covers it more or less for now. Oh yes, I also wanted to say to Kinou et Paddy that I love the toys they brought me for Christmas, that I play with all my cuddly toys, which all regularly gets stuck in my mouth by my now expert/coordinated hands and that I would love to hear from Erin and Hugo, who were born around the same time as me and from whom I heard very little in the last weeks!
Lots of love and hope to see you all very soon. In the meantime, hope you enjoy the piccies.
Chloé
